Strathcona Girls Grammar appoints new Head of Middle School

Strathcona Girls Grammar has announced the appointment of Olivia Cher as the new Head of Middle School, commencing in 2026.

Cher brings over 20 years of experience as an inspiring educator and leader, most recently serving as Head of eLearning at St Catherine’s School, Toorak.

A passionate advocate for student wellbeing and engagement, Cher’s background spans classroom teaching, school operations, and co-curricular leadership.

Lorna Beegan, Principal at Strathcona Girls Grammar said Cher brings clarity, academic expertise and a dynamic approach to empowering young people in the middle years, especially girls.

“We are excited to have her join our team in 2026, where she will lead Strathcona’s Middle School with creativity, genuine care and an energising sense of possibility,” Beegan said in a statement.

Speaking on her appointment, Cher said she was excited to be joining the Strathcona Girls Grammar School community as Head of Middle School, adding that the middle years are crucial in student development.

“During this period, students forge connections, develop identity and, most importantly, a sense of belonging,” she said. “It is such a privilege to accompany families on this journey as they transition to secondary school.”

Cher said that educating the whole person is central to her philosophy as a teacher.

“I am really looking forward to nurturing young people through Strathcona’s Wholebeing program and creating contexts that spark joy in learning.”
