A passionate leader with global experience has been named the new Head of Junior School at Strathcona Girls Grammar, a leading private school in Victoria.

Sarah Verdaguer, who currently serves as Deputy Director of Glendalough at St Kevin’s College (Teaching and Learning), will take up her new tole in Term 3, 2025, replacing Eleni Kyritsis, who has served as Acting Head of Junior School.

In a statement announcing the new appointment, Strathcona Girls Grammar called Verdaguer “an accomplished educational leader with extensive experience in strategic planning, curriculum innovation, and staff development across both local and international settings.”

Verdaguer specialises in data-informed, student-centered leadership, with a strong background in the Victorian Curriculum and context-specific curriculum implementation. Her previous roles include Primary School Principal at Global Jaya School, Indonesia, and active leadership within educational networks across the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to holding a Master of Education from Curtin University, Verdaguer is a recognised presenter at major educational conferences.

“I am really excited to be joining Strathcona Girls Grammar as the new Head of Junior School next term,” Verdaguer said in a statement following her appointment on Friday.

“From everything I’ve seen and heard, Strathcona is a warm and welcoming community that puts the growth and wellbeing of every girl at the heart of what it does.”

Verdaguer said she is “looking forward to being part of a school that values learning, personal growth, and a strong sense of belonging.”

“The spirit of ‘Bravely, Faithfully, Happily’ truly speaks to me — it is the kind of environment where students are empowered to take risks, care for others, and find joy in their learning,” she said.

“I am eager to meet the wonderful students, families, and staff, and to begin an exciting journey of growth and learning together.”
